Wednesday morning “chapel” focuses on a variety of Bible themes which are presented in art, song, drama, and prayer. Children share God’s word while also learning presentation skills. Most classes lead “chapel” several times during the school year. Students are encouraged to bring their offering coins to support international and local missions.
Bethel offers Spanish class to the first through fifth grades. The program helps develop the language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Our skill-based music program includes singing, dancing, music reading, and song writing in addition to tonal and rhythm patterns. Instrumental instruction includes rhythm instruments, xylophones, recorders, hand chimes, keyboard and acoustic guitar. Multiple musical performances are presented throughout the year.
Our school library supports the curriculum and nurtures an enjoyment of reading in our students. A feature of our literacy program is the Accelerated Reader Program which enhances reading comprehension and provides diagnostic reports to teachers about each student’s reading progress.
Technology skills are integrated into our curriculum. Laptops, iPads, projection cameras, and Smartboards are utilized as valuable instructional tools.
The development of a creative point of view is valued at Bethel. Our newly developing art studio will be a creative center for artistic expression in a variety of media. Each teacher also integrates art into their curriculum plans. Projects are regularly showcased around campus.
All students participate in physical development classes that reinforce positive play and cooperation. Younger students work on motor skills, movement concepts, and strategies for physical activities. Older students enjoy team-based and partner-based sports. Walking club and soccer leagues are offered as a recess option.
